go jump in the lake

8.31.2010

over the weekend billy and i headed over to historic grant park to the 8th annual summer shade festival.  it was a gorgeous day and we were loving the slightly cooler weather.  the highlight of my day was getting to see the booth belonging to the local art company “go jump in the lake.”

imagei’ve used their rustic signs in the past and have always loved them.  most recently i used one of their “lake” signs in a model home’s nursery.

all of their signs are hand crafted and made to look like they’ve been exposed to the elements for years.

their signs with quotes on them are my fave.

i loved the wall of local atlanta neighborhood signs too.  it really reminded me how many great historic neighborhoods atlanta has.

if you get a chance check out their website or purchase a sign from their etsy shop.

dining table envy

8.29.2010

over the weekend i picked up one of my old house beautifuls.

image

i had forgotten how much i loved windsor smith’s home that was featured in september ‘09, especially the extra large dining table in the kitchen.

image

i love how it functions as a dining table and as an island.  i wish my dining area was just a smidge bigger.  i love large, farmhouse-style dining tables, but my dining area is not large enough to hold one.  totally envious of windsor’s dining space though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~i’ve been working little by little on my condo all this year.  i haven’t gotten much completed due to a lack of time, but it’s slowly coming together.  i’m looking forward to picking out something to add to my place from csn stores.  i’ll be reviewing a product soon for them and i’m really excited to pick out something fun.
going dark
8.16.2010
well, i’ve decided to go dark…and i’m not talking about my hair color.  nope, i’m referring to my trim color.
i’ve been a fan of dark trim for a while and finally decided it was time to go dark myself.
my condo doesn’t get a lot of light so i didn’t want to go too dark.  i decided to go with a smoky bronze color from sherwin williams called “brainstorm bronze.”
scan0001editi absolutely love it!  i can’t wait until the whole place is done.  i’m painting my entry hallway and side hallway, the main room (family/dining combined) and my kitchen.  I’m keeping my bathroom, guest room and master the existing paint color, benjamin moore’s white dove.  since i’m painting it myself it’s going to be a while before it’s complete.  i’m focusing on one area at a time…as time permits.  right now i have the entry hallway completed except for the crown.  here’s a sneak peek.
floors
i’ve also been debating on painting my hardwood flooring that runs throughout my entry hallway, main hallway and kitchen.  this picture has made up my mind.  i’m DEFINITELY painting it.  camilla just painted her kitchen floors a beautiful turquoise shade and gives a great step-by-step tutorial.  although i would love to, i’m not going as bold as she did.  i’m thinking of staying more neutral and going with a medium gray, something that is in between the color of the wall and the trim.
i’ve been ordering online from cb2 for quite a while now, and i was so excited when i found out atlanta was getting an actual cb2 store.  they are a great modern home store with unbeatable prices.
last night billy and i headed downtown for the cb2 midtown grand opening party.  it was nuts down there.  there were so many people out for the party.  i snapped some photos with my new camera of some unique merchandising ideas.  i also took some pictures of my favorite pieces that i had only seen in the catalog or online until now.  it’s great to see them in person.
this very stylish lemon-lime sofa greeted us as soon as we walked in.
in love
8.09.2010
i’m completely in love with this tracery interiors kitchen.  i saw it here earlier today.  i’m in love down to the very last detail.  this kitchen trumps all of those kitchens that i posted about a few weeks ago.
